Cucumber Ice Facial

Last week I did a lot of research on the benefits of “ice facials” and posted THIS post all about how to do it and what it will do for your skin.  Today I’m taking ice on your skin to the next level and incorporating frozen cucumber and rose water to boost it’s effectiveness!  Plus, if you haven’t tried icing your face, you’re missing out.  It is weirdly relaxing and your skin glows afterwards!

Benefits of Icing Your Face:

  • De-Puffs
  • Stimulates blood circulation
  • Calms inflammation and redness
  • Tightens skin
  • Primes skin for makeup
  • Smoothes wrinkles by encouraging collagen production
  • Reduces the appearance of blemishes
  • Numbs pain

I highly suggest using THIS roller but I also suggest making power pact ice cubes that not only will give your skin the benefits of ice but also the benefits of another substance like a hydrosol, green tea, chamomile tea, fruits/veggies, essential oils or even flowers!

I chose to use cucumbers and a splash of rose hydrosol to help with puffiness and redness.  Plus, these 2 ingredients are just so lovely together.

Instead of rose hydrosol, you could also use rose witch hazel.

You should check out my recipe for green tea ice cubes and frozen Aloe Vera cubes as well!

Cucumber Ice Cubes:

  1. Use 1/2 a cucumber and 1 tbsp. of rose water and blend.
  2. Transfer to ice cube trays.
  3. Once frozen, massage on the skin until the cube is gone.
  4. Leave cucumber on the skin for 10-15 more minutes then rinse with cool water.

I love using these cucumber ice cubes.  You can’t imagine how good it feels until you’ve tried it!

Cucumber is so calming and soothing and when frozen, your skin feels relaxed yet awake!

Notes

These ice cubes can get a bit messy so feel free to use a paper towel or wrap in a thin cloth, like THIS.

I added a drop of carrot seed essential oil to each mold and did not enjoy the smell but there are huge skin benefits of carrot. It’s worth the carrot smell!

Next time I think I’ll add a drop of lavender essential oil to mask the carrot smell!

Other options for ice cubes are green tea cubes that will help with inflammation and sagging skin or aloe cubes for tightening and calming.  Chamomile tea will help calm redness and irritation.  Get creative and add a couple drops of Vitamin E oil to your cubes (pre-freeze) for added anti aging benefits!

This would be a fun girl’s night in activity and think how pretty you could make your cubes?!  The possibilities are endless!

After my cubes are completely frozen, I like to store in a baggy.  That way I can use one a day.  The great thing about using frozen products on the skin is that you don’t have to worry about preserving them.  The freezer does that for you!

Happy icing!!

xx, Jenni
