If you’re like me and spend a lot of time outside working in hot weather, this very simple DIY air conditioner in a bottle is for you! It’s a 2 ingredient spray that will actually help cool you down in the sultry summer months!
Peppermint Essential Oil does a number of tasks. Did you know that it can help relieve nausea? It’s also been helpful with acid reflux when you put a drop in your water. It can reduce a fever almost immediately and is so helpful to have on hand if you tend to get fevers that spike to scary heights momentarily. It also has a cooling effect when applied to the skin. It’s fabulous when doing a foot massage! You can even diffuse it to help with concentration!
In the summer months, I like to keep a bottle on hand that I spray on my face, chest, back and even underarms when I’m out working in the yard. You won’t believe how it can offer quite of a bit of temporary relief! I tend to have a lack of circulation in my feet and swell very easily. I spray this DIY on my feet liberally when outside.
DIY Air Conditioner in a Bottle
- 4 TBSP. Witch Hazel (find it HERE)
- 10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (find it HERE)
- 1 crystal Menthol Crystal (find them HERE) *optional*
Directions:
- Add witch hazel and peppermint into a 2 ounce spray bottle.
- You’ll need to shake the spray each time you use it to disperse the essential oil.

DIY Air Conditioner In A Bottle

- 1 crystal Menthol Crystal *optional*

- 2 ounce spray bottle
- Funnel
Instructions
- Add witch hazel and peppermint into a 2 ounce spray bottle.
- You\’ll need to shake the spray each time you use it to disperse the essential oil.
Notes
Take caution when spraying mentol crystals near the eyes.

**If adding mental crystals, add those in with the other ingredients. Take caution in spraying your face if crystals are added. They could be too strong for sensitive skin. I find that adding the crystals gives a more intense cooling sensation that lasts longer. It doesn’t burn my skin but I would add 1 shard at a time and evaluate how it feels. They will eventually dissolve into your spray. I added 2 crystals in to mine.
The menthol crystals seem to be more expensive than they were when I purchased them. However, there are several neat ways to use them. You can dissolve them in water, submerge a wash cloth and use as a compress for reducing fever. Dissolve them in a carrier oil and use around the temples and the neck to relieve headaches. Add menthol crystals to Aloe vera gel and spray on a sunburn or itchy skin.

This DIY is perfect for spraying in the car as well. I don’t suggest leaving it in your car since it would become hot but it’s handy in your bag. You could also keep this in a gym bag! Peppermint is a refreshing and clean scent so I don’t mind using it when out and about.
This peppermint spray is also great for relieving nausea and great to have on hand for hot flashes!!
