Jenni Raincloud

Hi!  I’m Jenni.  Welcome to my blog!  I live in Ottawa, Ontario with my two daughters, Sofie and Heidi and my husband, Rodney.  Throughout my journey as a mother, I have had 2 home births which taught me that when we feed our body, mind and soul properly, the body responds in a beautiful way.

While I want to center this blog around all things, fun, light and girly-I always want to stick with my convictions of staying natural and respecting my body.  I want to empower you to say no to harmful ingredients and toxic chemicals in your daily routine and give you the resources and alternatives to make it easy!

I am a licensed Aesthetician and have been in the skin care world for over 20 years. While I no longer maintain clients and perform facials, skin health has continued to be my passion through this blog. Jenni Raincloud has been recognized by Healthline as one of the Best Skin Care Blogs for the last 3 years. In 2020 I ranked #3! My recipes have been published in the magazine, Willow and Sage as well as in the British magazine, Simply Vegan.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE anything pertaining to green beauty!  You’ve come to the right place if you are looking to DITCH THE TOXINS in your beauty products! The main purpose of this blog is to show you a way to create your own highly effective, organic beauty products as well as achieving beauty inside and out.

I have been making my own skin care products for over 7 years now.  It began as a way to provide myself and my family with more natural products that I had complete control over.  As I went deeper into my research, the more intrigued I became with the scary side of the beauty industry.

  • Did you know that unlike the food industry, the beauty industry is not regulated by any legit group?  That means that there is no rule that says skin care and makeup companies have to list every single ingredient on the back of their products!
  • Also upon further research I found that that while Europe has banned 100s of harmful ingredients in their skin care, the US has banned around 10!

While I had realized with my pregnancies and births that I and I alone was in charge of my body, it became very clear that I needed to take that same initiative with my beauty products as well.

Using my background in skin care as well as my endless pursuit of ingredient knowledge, I feel confident that my skin care recipes are effective and safe.  I truly aim to make food for your skin.  90% of the time I live by the motto,

“If you can’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin”.

When it comes to OTC (over the counter) products, I love to review natural makeup and come up with fun makeup tutorials. I’ve created my own skin care line so I no longer review natural skin care companies.

It’s exciting to see that there has been a shift lately in the beauty industry-harmful parabens, synthetic fragrance, mineral oil, and propylene glycol (just to name a few) are being left out of many popular brands.  High powered beauty execs are wising up and realizing the beauty industry is heading in a more natural direction!  It’s exciting to see the progress.  That being said, there are still many extremely popular yet extremely harmful products out there that should be avoided.  I hope I can help navigate you to more natural products in your beauty routine!

A little bit about me?  I got the nickname Jenni Raincloud from a close friend years ago.  She found my love for thunderstorms, scary movies, Phantom of the Opera, V.C. Andrews and basically all things creepy and kooky, endearing.

I have lived most my life in Oklahoma apart from 3 years spent in England.  Going to high school in London left quite the impression and shaped much of who I am today. However, being back in the states, I have found my own paradise on 2.5 acres of wooded land filled with deer, rabbits, owls etc. I do believe God speaks through nature.

I studied piano performance in college and when I came to my senses realizing I would not be a world famous concert pianist, I went to beauty school-obvious choice, right?  Ha!

Years and years and a divorce later, I am a well-rounded, Jesus lovin’ momma who believes that if you focus on the positive, the positive will multiply!  My girls remind me daily that God is so good.

I’m big on homemade beauty products, natural makeup brands & tutorials and the power of nature!  These are the things that make me happy and the genius that invented blogging made it possible for me to fit it all in one place!

Stick with me.  I’ll work hard to make your pursuit of living more naturally, a little easier!

xx, Jenni

P.S. I created a second blog for fashion, home decor, playlists and personal posts HERE.
