For those of you who deal with oily hair, this DIY is just for you! I have an oily scalp, big time. I normally need to wash my hair daily, especially in the summer. I really wish I was one of those people that could get away with shampooing once a week! Washing daily dries hair out (all though not the scalp) not to mention the time it takes! I’ve tried my fair share of dry shampoos. I’ve not found one that works like it’s supposed to, plus they are FULL of chemicals! So what’s a girl to do?
I just happened to be on Pintrest and ran into a blog post by One Good Thing By Jillee. She had made a DIY spray for the hair to soak up oil. The recipe was so easy I tried it right then. This is a GREAT DIY. It took me not even 5 minutes to make and it allowed me to skip my shower Saturday night and even have good looking hair for church on Sunday. The pic is of me Sunday afternoon! As you can see, it really worked well!
DIY Hair Degreaser
- 2 TBSP. Corn Starch
- 2 TBSP. Rubbing Alcohol
- 1/2 cup Water
- Add these ingredients to a spray bottle and shake!
How to Use:
- Spray solution to the oily areas of your hair. You don’t need to use much.
- Blow dry until the hair is dry.
- Repeat if necessary.
- Style as usual.
Let me explain the above pics. The first pic was taken after I had used the de-greaser on the top of my head. I so wish I would have taken a pic of how greasy the top of my head was! I really didn’t think it was going to work so I didn’t bother taking a pic! You can see the greasiness underneath my hair though. The 2nd pic was later that afternoon after I had applied the de-greaser to all my roots and blasted my hair with the blow dryer.
I love this DIY. It was so easy and allowed me to skip the shampoo for at least one day! Who knows, I might have been able to push 2 days with a reapplication the next morning! This will really come in handy in the winter when hair is dryer and the middle and ends need the extra oil from skipping a couple of shampoos!
