DIY Hair Growth Spritzer

Jump to Recipe

Did you know that after having a virus your hair sheds? I’m talking clumps of hair after each shower exactly like after having a baby. This happened to me after having the flu last year. Unfortunately, I had had my hair thinned by a hair dresser to make it more manageable so losing more has made my hair feel and look much more sparse then usual. It was time to take some action. In order to encourage new hair growth, I’ve concocted a DIY Hair Growth Spritzer! It’s easy to make and smells wonderful!

I created THIS DIY serum that is oil based to help promote a healthy scalp and encourage hair growth but for those of us that have an oilier scalp, it’s just not feasible to use an oil based product. I decided to create a simple product based on the essential oils in the original DIY that are shown to regrow hair but remove the oils and simply add witch hazel and aloe. While we aren’t getting the popular castor oil or black cumin seed oil in this DIY, I find that the witch hazel feels fresh and light and comes in handy in between washes!

Causes of Hair Loss:

  • Emotional stress
  • Viruses
  • Ring Worm
  • Physical stress
  • Postpartum
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Thyroid issues
  • Exposure to toxins
  • Vitamin & mineral deficiencies
  • Allergies
  • Heredity

Cedarwood Essential Oil is an extremely important ingredient when experiencing hair loss.  Study after study prove cedarwood oil is very effective when it comes to re-growing hair.

Rosemary Essential Oil-Rosemary stimulates circulation which in turn wakes up hair follicles.  Circulation is key when it comes to hair growth.  Rosemary also increases cellular metabolism.

Tea Tree, Lavender and Lemon essential oils all help to detox and purge hair follicles as well as kill bacteria that could be clogging pores.

Directions:

  • Mix all ingredients in a 2 ounce glass spray bottle.
  • Spray on your roots 1-3 times a day.
  • You can massage into your scalp for added penetration and circulation.

My hair has stopped falling out. I read that when hair falls out due to a virus or hormones, it typically only lasts about 3 months. I’ve been taking a biotin supplement as well as collagen in my smoothie and have noticed a lot of baby hairs so using this spray is a nice bonus. It smells great, freshens up my scalp and even tingles a bit. I highly recommend making this simple DIY if you’re experiencing hair loss.

Notes

Remember, your DIYs are only as good as your product. It’s tempting to just order from Amazon but you lose so much quality that way. I highly recommend sticking with Mountain Rose Herbs. I believe their quality and integrity is far above any other business that sells organic ingredients. It’s also refreshing to know that they are very reasonably priced.

If you have a dry scalp, I recommend THIS DIY instead.

Remember, your DIYs are only as good as your ingredients. I prefer to get my ingredients from either Mountain Rose Herbs or Plant Therapy. However, I do have some favorites on Amazon and am always on the search for unadulterated, organic ingredients. You can find my Amazon picks HERE.
