DIY Blood Orange Hibiscus Face Mist

DIY Brightening Face Mist

I’ve been on a big roll lately creating new DIYs!  Some flop, but some I end up really loving and this DIY toner with blood orange and hibiscus is one of them that I like!  I’ve jumped out of the box and am using different ingredients and this toner is no exception!  Not to mention, it’s pink!  And that pretty pink hue is from all-natural, skin loving hibiscus!  With a mix of blood orange hydrosol and lemon witch hazel, we’ve got ourselves a skin brightening DIY toner your skin will love!

DIY Toner Ingredients

Blood Orange Hydrosol has been dubbed, “Sunshine in a Bottle” due to it’s uplifting, citrus smell.  It helps brighten skin by boosting blood flow and calming inflammation.  It will help to control blemishes and lock in moisture.

Lemon Witch Hazel tightens pores, refreshes skin and cleanses.  Feel free to use other scents of witch hazel.  Thayers offers cucumber, rose, lavender etc.  I love them all. I typically use THIS witch hazel but I thought I’d branch out to get more brightening ingredients.

Geranium and Lavender come together to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, encourage cell turnover, reduce puffinesss and redness and accelerates the healing process!

Hibiscus is especially helpful to the skin because it contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids which help exfoliate, smooth and brighten skin tone.  Hibiscus is also naturally hydrating and anti aging due to it’s high antioxidant content.

In order to get the pink color, hibiscus must be soaked in the witch hazel and hydrosol.  An empty tea bag is required because the hibiscus powder will not dissolve completely and leave your toner somewhat grainy.  You can actually make your DIY toner bright pink the longer you allow the tea bag to soak!  Plus the more hibiscus, the more benefits!
