I’m loving DIY toning wipes! It’s a DIY I’ve been thinking about for quite sometime but felt like after a prolonged amount of time, the liquid would degrade the cotton rounds. However, this was not the case and my skin really seemed to respond to these refreshing wipes!
One function of using a toner is to further cleanse the skin after using a cleanser. However, I tend to use my toner the lazy way and spritz it over my skin rather then use a cotton round to wipe over the skin. Without the wiping action, the extra cleansing benefits just aren’t there. By adding the cotton rounds to the toner, it made this important step of a skin care routine so incredibly easy. In fact, my whole family got into it and loved using them as well!
I decided to use rose hydrosol along with peppermint essential oil for a beautifying yet cooling sensation. It was an odd blend of scent that really worked well! Witch Hazel has skin tightening abilities and is an absolute must in any toner. I also added aloe vera gel for extra hydration and healing. I think we could all use a bit of both no matter what season our skin is in.
DIY Toning Wipes
1/4 cup witch hazel (find it HERE)
1/4 cup aloe vera gel (find it HERE)
2 TBSP. rose hydrosol (find it HERE)
15 drops peppermint essential oil (find it HERE)
Directions:
- Using a 4 oz. glass jar like THIS ONE, add cotton pads. I added enough that when they were dry, they stuck out of the top about an 1.5-2 inches.
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl and slowly pour over the cotton pads.
- Close the lid of your jar and thoroughly mix the liquid with the cotton pads so that all the cotton pads are saturated.
- If you don’t have enough liquid to soak each pad, feel free to add more of the wet ingredients over the top. Extra witch hazel, aloe or rose water will just be extra beneficial!
I found my 4 oz. flip top jar at my local hobby store. What I have linked is a bit expensive but the same size and shape of mine. I’m sure there are many jars that will accommodate cotton rounds.
Since my daughters have discovered this DIY and adopted it into their nightly skin care routine, it inspired me to create more kid/tween/teen friendly DIYs that would make skin care super simple yet effective. My girls are now 6 and 9 and I realized it’s time to shape up their skin care routine and teach them how to care for their own skin rather then just watching me care for mine.
I hope you enjoy this DIY as much as I have. I’m all out of my toning wipes and it’s time to make more since they were such a hit!!
xx, Jenni
