DIY Tinted Lip Balm with Rosemary

Jump to Recipe

DIY Tinted Lip BalmDo you buy lipstick only to get home and realize it’s way too dark or just not your color? I have so many lipsticks that get shoved in my makeup drawer never to be heard from again. Today, let’s dig those old lipsticks out and make a DIY tinted lip balm that will be more wearable, more nourishing and with less harmful ingredients!

Since I have accumulated a lot of lipsticks that I’ll never wear, I decided to try adding them to a basic homemade lip balm recipe. It worked like a charm and now I not only avoided wasting my lipstick, I was able to create a lip product I now can use! This DIY Tinted Lip Balm is a great way to not waste lip colors you ended up not liking!

By using lipsticks that ended up being too dark, you are able to achieve a most subtle color but add a good, lip quenching shine!

Making a DIY tinted lip balm with old lipsticks also dilutes the chemicals in lipstick.  Of course the best thing would be to ditch the lipstick all together but sometimes it’s better to reuse then waste!

I used Rosemary essential oil because it gives a refreshing smell.  I prefer it over Peppermint but you can use any essential oil (or none) that you like!  Also, depending on your lipstick container, you can re-use your lipstick tube!  Just pour it in and let it cool!
