DIY Dry Mask for Aging/Dry Skin

Anti Aging Dry Mask

This DIY anti aging dry mask contains ingredients that are decadent and powerful when it comes to beautifying the skin. It is the perfect gift for moms, grandmas and friends!  Not to mention, how pretty is that pink?!

First off, let me explain exactly what a dry mask is and why you’ll want to make one.  Basically a dry mask is a powder mixture of dry ingredients.  When you are ready to apply a mask, simply scoop about a tbsp. of the dry mask, add water to make a paste and apply to your skin.  The great thing about this DIY is that it stays potent and fresh.  Water or a liquid such as aloe vera or hydrosol will actually activate your dry ingredients, giving your skin a powerful treatment with no risk of contamination or ineffectiveness due to expiring.

Last week I listed options of dry ingredients HERE.  My favorite thing about dry masks is that the options are endless not to mention, they couldn’t be easier to make!  Choose the appropriate ingredients, ground up the non-powdered ones like herbs, salt or oatmeal and mix together!  You really can’t go wrong.

DIY Mask for Aging/Dry Skin

  • 1 tsp. Hibiscus (find it HERE)
  • 1 tbsp. Rose Clay (find it HERE)
  • 2 tbsp. Kaolin Clay (find it HERE)
  • 3 tbsp. Rhassoul Clay (find it HERE)
  • 1 tsp. Rose buds (find it HERE)

Mix hibiscus powder, rose clay, kaolin clay and rhassoul clay in a jar.  In a blender or coffee grinder, grind rose buds to a fine powder and mix with other ingredients.  Shake well.

How To Use:

  1. Scoop a tablespoon of powder and add just enough liquid to create a spreadable paste.
  2. Apply a thick layer to clean skin.
  3. Leave on 10-15 minutes.
  4. Rinse with cool water.
  5. Apply toner and moisturizer.

If you are making this mask for a loved one, I suggest THESE flip top containers.  I tied a simple ribbon and added a sprig of pine from my yard.  You could also add a wooden spoon or a mask brush!  To go above and beyond, a card with the ingredient list and directions could also be attached to the ribbon.

How gorgeous is this mask dry and wet?!  This is a fabulous mask for dry skin.  Rhassoul is my absolute favorite clay.  Not only does it grab impurities out of the pores, it also does not zap skin of moisture.

Kaolin and Rose clay are perfect clays for dry and sensitive skin and also work to rev up circulation, exfoliate and purify the skin.  Hibiscus is excellent for aging skin as well.  It actually can gently exfoliate the skin!

Rose buds are the ultimate in anti aging not to mention, they make this mask smell amazing!

As I was experimenting with this mask I used rose hydrosol as my liquid.  It turned out amazing and left my skin feeling clean and smooth!  Learn more about how to properly use clay mask HERE.  Also, learn all about the benefits of rose clay HERE.

P.S. Because I based this DIY on a gift idea, I used both Kaolin Clay and Rose Clay.  Kaolin Clay is white and gives this DIY a pretty baby pink color.  Otherwise the mask would have been a darker pink.  Both clays are very similar and the kaolin clay can easily be omitted if you’re not going for a light pink.  Just substitute kaolin for more rose clay.
