DIY Face Oil-My Beauty Sleep In a Bottle…

DIY Face Oil Beauty Sleep in a BottleLately I think I’ve found just the right skin care routine. A big part of that routine is today’s recipe for a DIY face oil. This new oil  contains some of the most effective anti aging ingredients you can find. This face oil is full of skin smoothing goodness and I believe it will be a staple in your beauty cabinet if you are looking for improvement on dryness, texture and wrinkles.

A DIY face oil is a simple product to make. There is no heat required which is a great thing for sparing the integrity and benefits of each ingredient.  Be sure to not skimp on quality of your ingredients. Your face oil is only as good as your ingredients. I try to find quality ingredients we can get on Amazon. However, I always recommend Mountain Rose Herbs for ensured quality. You just can’t beat them.

Get quality oils and you’ll make a quality product that would sell for $100+ in an exclusive skin care line.

I wanted to create something that would deeply nourish my skin during the dry winter months.  My moisturizer works well in the morning but my skin just needed more.  I also need something that will even my skin tone and soften wrinkles.  I use this product at night only but feel free to use it as your only moisturizer.  I find 5-7 drops is all I need.

In the morning, my skin feels completely hydrated and baby smooth which is while I’ve dubbed it my beauty sleep in a bottle!

Ingredient Benefits for DIY Face Oil:

Rosehip has always been my number 1 go-to when it comes to anti aging oils. It is a powerhouse of an oil and I tend to grab for it often when my skin is in need of a pick me up!

Benefits of Rosehip Seed Oil:

  • Penetrates deep into the skin
  • Regenerates skin cells
  • Increases collagen production
  • Rich in Vitamin C
  • Rich in fatty acids
  • Restores skin’s elasticity
  • Fades age/sun spots
  • Reduces broken capillaries
  • Moisturizes

  • Geranium Rosehip Cleansing Balm

  • Firming Body Oil
  • Coffee Bean Eye Roll On

The next oil I’ve added is jojoba oil.  I love jojoba oil.  For those of you that are leery of using oil on your skin, jojoba oil is the perfect oil for you.  It is often suggested for oilier skin types because it is the closest oil to our natural skin’s sebum.  It gives our pores the memo that they do not need to over produce oil.  If you’re dry, it simply nourishes the skin.  When in doubt, use jojoba oil-that’s my new motto.

Benefits of Jojoba Oil

  • Antibacterial
  • Non-greasy
  • High Vitamin E content
  • Non-Comedogenic (won’t clog pores)
  • Anti Inflammatory
  • Moisturizing
  • Calming

Pomegranate Seed Oil is a new oil for me but such a beneficial oil for anti aging.  It’s a close 2nd to rosehip seed oil, in my opinion. I love working with this product, especially in my Anti Wrinkle Eye Stick recipe!

Pomegranate Seed Oil Benefits

  • Increases collagen production
  • Protects existing collagen
  • High Vitamin C content
  • Restores elasticity
  • Balances pH
  • Improves Skin Tone
  • Healing/calming
  • Moisturizes
  • Penetrates deeply
  • High Antioxidant content

Non-GMO Vitamin E oil is a no-brainer.  Do yourself a favor-buy a 2-4 ounce bottle of Vitamin E oil and add it to every DIY you make (that is not water based).  Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant.  It’s anti aging powers are well known and the perfect booster for this treatment. It also helps prolong the shelf life of your face oil!

As far as essential oils, I stuck with my go-tos.  Lavender and Geranium are excellent for the skin.  Geranium is my favorite anti aging essential oil. Lavender is calming as well as beautifying.

Other anti aging essential oils you could add are Carrot Seed, Neroli , or Rose.

DIY Face Oil = Big Savings!

I’m going to do something different for this post.  Since I’m really urging you to buy QUALITY oils, I have totaled what it will cost to get started on this DIY and also figured out how many bottles you can make from your investment!

So, if you buy each of these ingredients (5ml sizes in essential oils and the 8 ounce size of rosehip) you will spend about $100.  BUT-you will be getting 16 bottles of your handmade night treatment!  That’s $6.25 per bottle!  Wow.  Did I mention you are only using 5-7 drops a night?

Your 1 ounce DIY face oil will last quite a while.  What a nice gesture to make a bottle for your friends, mom, sisters, neighbors etc.!  Hey, everyone should love organic, handmade skin care, come on!  Oh and, these type of oils (as long as they are kept out of light) will last over a year or more.

Mother Nature always knows best!

xx, Jenni
