DIY Multi-Purpose Gym Spray!

Ever been super self conscious at they gym, fearing the person on the machine next you is catching a not so nice whiff?  Ever leave the gym to run a thousand errands knowing you should be at least washing the sweat off your face before you erupt in breakouts?  Ever open your gym bag only to be knocked into the next room because it STINKS???  Been there, bought the t-shirt.  This DIY multi-purpose gym spray is light on the wallet, light on time and could not be more necessary for those of us working on our fitness or just enduring the summer heat wave!  I have used this spray for everything you can think of and it’s a lifesaver.

First and foremost, I need a spray for my underarms.  TMI-probably but if you’ve been with me for a while, you’re well informed that I am arm-pit challenged (could explain why my husband jumped ship a few months ago, totally kidding-sort of).  I need a little refresher here and there and there’s nothing worse then clogging your pits with store-bought deodorant while you’re working out-You need to sweat.  It’s the easiest way to detox.  It may be unpleasant at times but that’s why you need the spray!

Second, this spray will kill bacteria on your face and back.  When I am done working out I never hit the showers-just being real.  I carry on with my day, dried sweat and all.  Spritzing my skin with an antibacterial spray really helps to keep break outs at bay.  This is especially helpful for the back.  So many back breakouts are due to sweat.  Zap that bacteria as soon as you finish your workout and you’ll be amazed at the lack of unsightly bacne!  Did I mention that if you add an essential oil like peppermint or rosemary, you can also cool down in the process!

Third, this spray even works on gym equipment and yoga mats.  Because it kills germs it is way more effective then wiping down a machine with a wet paper towel.  Yoga mats-Yes, they can be full of yuck.  Think about it, they lay on the ground and then you step on them as well as lay on them and they probably never get cleaned!  A quick spritz pre-yoga sesh will freshen and sterilize your mat for your workout.

Forth, This spray works great as a gym bag deodorizer!  Spray this in your bag or shoes for an instant freshness that will keep yucky smells away as well as kill lingering germs!

As a base for our spray, I chose witch hazel.  I feel like I’ve been talking a lot about witch hazel lately!  It’s really such an amazing ingredient.  I like witch hazel because it has a light smell and is antibacterial, antiseptic and anti inflammatory!  Read more about witch hazel HERE.

When choosing essential oils for this spray, you really can’t go wrong.  The majority of essential oils are antibacterial, antiviral, and antiseptic.  I decided on rosemary for my spray because it’s cooling and it revs up circulation.  I also chose lavender for it’s fresh scent and calming properties.  Lemon just makes everything better so I added it to aid in killing bacteria and freshening up!   You could always substitute peppermint for rosemary.  Peppermint is very cooling as well and would go well with lemon and lavender!

DIY Multi Purpose Gym Spray

  • 20 drops of Lavender Essential Oil (find it HERE)
  • 20 drops of Lemon Essential Oil (find it HERE)
  • 20 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil (find it HERE) (or Peppermint)
  • Top off with Organic Witch Hazel (find it HERE)

I used a glass 2 ounce spray bottle.  I wouldn’t recommend using plastic because the essential oils will degrade your bottle over time.

I love this DIY-I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks now since I’ve been doing a new routine at the gym.  Just to be frank, being single at the gym is a whole new level or awkward.  Not that I’m looking-I’ve certainly sworn off testosterone pumping gymbos!  That being said, I would prefer not to emit a stink, ya know?  Now, not only am I protecting myself from yucky sweat germs, I’m also smelling like a just came from a fancy spa!

I also made a label for you all!  I used THESE labels and uploaded the design HERE for printing.

One more thing, I’ve made this spray really strong.  It’s very effective that way but if you are going to spray it on your face, make sure to keep your eyes shut and spray at a further distance then normal.
