DIY Lip Line Eraser Balm

Lip Wrinkle Lip Balm

I was on a mission to create a DIY lip line eraser balm that would help smooth out the vertical lines that form around the lips.  They seem to come out of nowhere and can be quite unsightly.  I noticed mine after I did a makeup tutorial and started pulling pictures together to post.  I actually thought I had a scar because it seemed so deep and obvious!  My line didn’t really bother me but it made me think about the many more on their way-lol!  I’m an avid whistler-I might as well be smoking cigs when it comes to wrinkles around my mouth!  Plus, I knew many women must be getting these fine lines so what would it hurt to find if there could be a natural product that could diminish them?!

Not to skip to the conclusion, but I did find a DIY and it DID work.  While my lip line is still there, it is greatly diminished as you can see in the before and after picture below.  My hope is I’m keeping all the other one’s with plans to invade my lips at bay!!  I honestly don’t think I’ll use another lip balm for quite sometime since this formulation has been so effective!

A Word On Lips:

The lips are more sensitive then the rest of the skin. Due to the absence of a keratinized stratum corneum, moisture rapidly evaporates from the lips, causing them to dry out very easily. In addition, unprotected lips are especially vulnerable to dehydration.  The skin around the lips can fall victim to the sensitive nature of the lips.  Smoking is the number one cause of lip lines but just plain old age will take it’s tole.  Drinking through a straw, whistling and even talking can greatly contribute to lip lines as well.

According to Lotion Crafter:

Hilurlip™ is a new way of vehiculization of Hyaluronic acid, especially for lip boosting products. It is an oil suspension containing particles of Sodium Hyaluronate, submitted to a technological process after which the particle size is reduced and homogenized to enhance penetration and efficacy. The small particles of Hyaluronan contained in Hilurlip™ swell when they are in contact with skin water, producing a long-term boosting effect on the lips.

Hilurlip™ also contains the tripeptide GHK, a well-known RCS scavenger, which protects the lips against the harmful effects of sun exposure. GHK is able to inhibit glycation therefore preventing the loss of collagen elasticity, and to protect skin cells from photodamage.

Lip Line Balm DIY

I created this lip balm in November (it’s the end of Feb.).  I actually didn’t hold out much hope so I kept the balm by my bed and just used it nightly.  Funny enough, I never notice my lines unless it’s in a photo so I never paid much attention to that area.  As I was about to run out of my first tin the other day, I figured I should take a good look at my upper lip and to my surprise, that line was barely there!  Like, I had to hunt for it. I have done nothing out of the ordinary since November.  The skin care I’ve used has been my own from my Etsy shop.

If you’d like to create your own product with Hilurlip, it’s super easy to work with because it can be added to oil DIYs at a 1-3% formulation.  It’s super affordable and after my results, I would say it works!!  I have been experimenting with an anti wrinkle ingredients to make a face serum so stay tuned for that one!

Update:

I decided to make this DIY a bit easier and possibly a bit more effective by changing it from a balm to a liquid. I found that Hilurlip is sensitive to heat so if you can avoid heat all together, it’s an even more effective ingredient! I added a few different anti aging oils and put it in a roll on bottle. I much prefer it this way than with the balm. Not to mention, it is so much easier to make. You can find that updated recipe HERE.
