What a time we are living in! Everyday I’m having new feelings both positive and negative about being quarantined. One thing I’m noticing is how important it is to take care of myself during this time. Plus, with all the home schooling, it’s inspired me to go a bit off the rails of math, reading and science and teach the girls more about DIY skin care! Yesterday I taught them how to make an herb infused oil. Today, we’re going to learn about what food items we have in our kitchen that our skin can benefit from via a homemade or I should say, kitchen made mask!
Raiding your pantry for mask ingredients can take your skin care to the next level. My favorite kitchen items to add to masks are definitely yogurt, lemon, coffee, pumpkin and honey. If you have any clays, seaweed or spirulina on hand, these powdered items are great add-ins! You can learn more about clays HERE, seaweed HERE and spirulina HERE.

I can’t stress enough that there are no rules when it comes to putting food on your face! I do advise to go slow so that you don’t make a mask too watery because it will run right off your face and what a mess that is!
Because most of these ingredients are meant for adding moisture, antioxidants and are calming you can leave kitchen made masks on any where from 10-20 minutes. If your skin feels uncomfortable, remove it immediately.

My daughters and I had fun with this one. My oldest mixed the masks for us and my youngest literally ate hers off her face as soon as I got a doable picture! They both commented on how soft their skin felt after we washed the masks off!
I’m thinking tomorrow we might work on THIS DIY!
I would love to know how every one is doing since being on lockdown. This isn’t an easy time and there are some days where doing extra projects like this are laughable. Some days it takes all my effort to not snap at everyone. Day by day or minute by minute is the best we can do! Please comment below!
